New Clients

We will see you soon!

Welcome to Animal Hospital of Fort Lauderdale! We are excited to meet you and your pet and are committed to providing the highest quality care from the moment you walk through our doors.

To help your first visit go smoothly, here’s what you need to know.

Appointment Scheduling and Arrival

To help our doctors stay on schedule, we work strictly by appointment.

We see appointments Monday through Friday, from 8AM-12PM and from 2PM-6PM. For new clients, we ask that you arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to your first appointment. This will give you enough time to complete any necessary paperwork and for our team to input your information into our system. To save time, you can also fill out our New Client Information Sheet on our website before your visit. After your first appointment, drop-off appointments may be available depending on your pet’s needs. Drop-off is available as early as 8AM.

Preparing for Your First Visit

If you have veterinary records from a previous clinic, please bring them with you to your first appointment. These records are important for us to have a complete understanding of your pet’s health history. If you don’t have these records on hand, don’t worry—our team can help by contacting your previous veterinarian to request that they send us the necessary documents. Some veterinarians may require your written consent or a small fee to transfer records, and we’re happy to assist in coordinating this.

Payment

All fees for services provided are due at the time of your visit.

For your convenience, we accept multiple forms of payment, including cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover card, AllPet Card, and CareCredit.

Emergencies and Work-In Exams

Emergencies happen, and we’re here to help. If your pet has an urgent medical need during our business hours, please call us right away. We prioritize emergencies so that your pet receives immediate attention with minimal disruption to other scheduled appointments. If your pet needs to be seen the same day but it’s not an emergency, we can accommodate work-in exams. Please note that scheduled appointments will take priority, so there may be a wait before we can see your pet.

New Client FAQs

An isolation appointment is a special protocol we use to prevent the spread of potentially contagious diseases to other patients in our hospital. If your pet was adopted from a high population environment and/or is showing symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, vomiting, diarrhea, or any other signs of a potentially infectious illness, we will ask you to schedule an isolation appointment.

Upon arrival, you should call us and then wait in your car with your pet. Please do not walk around the parking lot while waiting, in order to minimize the risk of spreading any contagious agents. A veterinary nurse will come out to your car to greet you and escort you and your pet to our isolation room, which is located in its own building. You will be able to stay with your pet throughout the appointment, and both the veterinarian and nurse will conduct any necessary exams and tests in the isolation room.

Our hospital is open Monday – Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm. Drop-offs can be made as early as 8:00am for your convenience. Our hospital is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

We can obtain records from most veterinarians with just a simple phone call requesting records be faxed or emailed. Some veterinarians require written consent to transfer records; others require payment for each photocopied page and request that the records be picked up. Please call our office and request that your records be transferred, and we will assist you.

Presently, we are not boarding patients. However, we can recommend several boarding facilities in the area. Please call for a list of boarding facilities near you. When boarding pets, we suggest you bring the food they are currently eating and whatever medications or supplements they may be taking. This will ensure your pet’s diet and medication regimen will be kept consistent.

Yes, in order to keep our doctor on schedule, you must call our office to set up an appointment. To better facilitate patient flow, we request that clients arrive a few minutes prior to their appointments. This allows our reception staff to update your personal information and check your pet in.

If you or your pet is new to us, we’d appreciate you arriving ten to fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. This allows for the time you need to fill out the necessary paperwork associated with your pet’s visit and the time we need to enter it into our computers. You can also fill out client and pet information forms on this website to expedite your check-in process.

We do take emergencies during the day, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need your pet seen on short notice. Emergencies will be seen immediately and prioritized to create as little disruption to scheduled appointments as possible.
