Our Doctors
Dr. Cindi Bossart
Dr. Cindi Bossart received her BS in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is a 1978 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School. Dr. Bossart is the founder and co-owner of this hospital. She has a special interest in canine reproduction and surgery. Active in breeding and showing dogs since vet school, she has bred and exhibited Rough Collies, Smooth Fox Terriers, and Xoloitzcuintli over the past 40+ years. Dr. Bossart also breeds Hanoverian horses for dressage and three-day eventing.
Early in her career, Dr. Bossart was instrumental in providing veterinary care for the dolphins at Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo and helped create the Avicultural Breeding and Research Center in Loxahatchee, Florida, before founding the Animal Hospital of Fort Lauderdale in 1986.

A frequent lecturer, Dr. Bossart has presented career day programs for both elementary and high school students and has lectured at numerous dog clubs on a variety of health-related issues. Dr. Bossart is a past chairperson for the Collie Club of America’s Health Committee, sat on the Grants Committee for the AKC Canine Health Foundation, is a past president of the Collie Club of America, is a multi-year member of the Georgia Tech School of Biology Advisory Board, is a founding board member of the Friends of Bark Park, the first Broward County sponsored dog park, and has co-authored two books, “Himalayans of the 80s” and “The Magnificent Collie.” She is the proud recipient of the “2016 Veterinarian of The Year” award presented by Purina ProPlan® at the 2016 Westminster Kennel Club show.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Bossart has been a mentor to the newer graduates who worked with her and to the veterinary technicians who went on to vet school and became veterinarians.
Presently retired, Dr. Bossart is always available to collaborate with our staff on ongoing cases. She enjoys continuing to breed and exhibit her Collies in her free time.

Dr. Stephanie Jones
Dr. Stephanie D. Jones is a certified human-animal bond veterinarian with a passion for providing quality care and quality medicine. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 1994 and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. Dr. Jones joined the Animal Hospital of Fort Lauderdale team in 2000 and is a co-owner and our Medical Director. Dr. Jones has a special interest in soft-tissue surgery and is committed to ensuring the well-being of her pet patients. She has served as president of the Broward County Veterinary Medicine Association.
In 2019, Dr. Jones founded Pets Help The Heart Heal Inc., a nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the social, physical, and emotional health of youth through the human-animal bond. She is passionate about veterinary medicine and believes in the healing power of the human-animal bond.
As part of the Pets Help The Heart Heal shadow program, Dr. Jones and the Animal Hospital of Fort Lauderdale host middle school, high school, and college students, providing them with valuable hands-on experience in the veterinary field. She is a strong advocate for giving youth opportunities to shadow professionals in order to open doors to future career possibilities.
Dr. Jones is also a public speaker who motivates and encourages youth to reach their full potential. She, along with her Collie, Max, and her newest ambassador-in-training Collie puppy, Tyson, enjoy giving back to the community through her work and volunteer efforts.
Dr. Kim Schneider
As Dr. Kim Schneider approaches her 35th year practicing veterinary medicine in 2025, she reflects on how she began and where she is now. Dr. Schneider started practicing shortly after graduation from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in May 1990. She practiced at a mixed animal practice in Virginia for several months before moving to Wichita, Kansas in February 1991. In Wichita, Dr. Schneider worked for an equine-only practice for 2 years before joining an equine/small animal practice. Dr. Schneider did a mix of equine and small animal practice with some exotics for the next 2 years before relocating to South Florida. Dr. Schneider then practiced in several hospitals as a relief doctor before joining the Animal Hospital of Fort Lauderdale part-time in 2000 and eventually full-time after her three children were all in school.

In Florida, Dr. Schneider concentrated on her passion for dermatology and soft-tissue surgery, as well as her strong bond with her patients and their owners. After COVID in 2021, Dr. Schneider was elected to the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine’s Alumni Board. This election renewed her interest in rural practice, and in 2022, she bought a small farm in Highland County, Virginia. Now, during the summer months, Dr. Schneider works part-time with her classmate from veterinary school who owns a mixed animal practice started 51 years ago by his father. She is also restoring a 111-year-old farmhouse and, in 2023, started a house call practice called Doe Hill Veterinary Services. She offers services to small animals and horses in Highland County and has helped a few farmers with their goats and small calves.
Dr. Schneider works with shadow students in Virginia and enjoys sharing her passion for veterinary medicine and her experience and expertise with them. She also volunteers her services to help the Highland County Humane Society. The county she serves in Virginia is considered underserved by veterinarians, so her practice is much needed and a real service to the community. As much as she loves her summers in Virginia, Dr. Schneider still enjoys returning to South Florida during the winter months, where she reconnects with her veterinary family, both staff and patients at the Animal Hospital of Fort Lauderdale.
